Md. Manjurul Islam was born on October 1, 1978 in Jhalokati of Bangladesh. He is the eightth child of Md. Munsur Ali Sarder and Mst. Saleha Begum.
Md. Manjurul Islam is a Narcotics officer who joined as Assistant Director in the Department of Narcotics Control under Ministry of Home Affairs on 26 May, 2009. After joining in the Narcotics Control Department, he gained 13 years of experience in government service and continues to apply these experiences in the workplace.
Md. Manjurul Islam who assumed the charge of Deputy Director of Preventive Education, Research & Publication wing of DNC Headquarters on 1 February, 2022. He is responsible for implementing various programs of demand reduction strategy, conducting research works and publications of the DNC.
Prior to this working station, he was Deputy Director of Pabna District office, Dhaka Metropolitan Office (South) & Comilla Narcotics Control office. He performed additional duties of District office, Chandpur and Brahmanbaria as Deputy Director. He also worked in Dhaka Metropolitan office (North), Bogura Narcotics Control office and Rajshahi Intelligence as Assistant Director. While working in the various stations mentioned above, he was responsible for conducting operations & implementing Licensing activities for the control of Narcotics drugs, Precursor Chemicals and Psychotropic Substances. He was also responsible for implementing various programs of demand reduction and harm reduction strategy.
Md. Manjurul Islam also worked for two years in the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) under Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives as an Upazilla Rural Development officer between 2007 and 2009 before joining in the Department of Narcotics Control.
Md. Manjurul Islam has received professional training from various institutions in the country and abroad and has participated in various national and international conferences and seminars. He received training from National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) of India, Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) of Thailand, Supreme prosecutors’ Office (SPO), National Digital Forensic Center, National Defense Criminal Investigation Command (CIC), Southern District Detention Center of Korea, Malay University and Solace Asia of Malaysia and Institute of science and Forensic medicine of Singapore in various subjects. He also travelled several times to various countries including India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Korea on official work including attending workshops, meetings and seminars.
Md. Manjurul Islam was very talented in his student life. As a keen student, he has done graduation and post-graduation in Soil Science from National University. In addition to education, he used to perform stage plays in the Nineties and was an avid football player. He likes to read books, magazine and travel. In personal life, he got married with Irin Talukder in 2010. He is the father of three sons.

Developing, maintaining, and executing training programs through advanced training for the employee of Department of Narcotics Control.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining the standards for training materials and learning system modules for the trainee of Department of Narcotics Control.
Provides leadership and guidance to the law enforcement members of Department of Narcotics Control.
Working in collaboration with other law enforcing organizations to develop best practice methodologies for delivery of staff training.
Creates a budget for programmatic work and monitors expenditures in accordance with budget allocations.
Providing coaching to law enforcement officials and their supervisors as requested.
Provides expertise, direction and is responsible for the development of goals and objectives for anti-drug campaign.
Supporting the development and maintenance of the learning management system
Strongly participates for the development and formulation of rules and regulations for the control of substances, anti-drug campaign and drug treatment and Rehabilitation.
